ABSTRACT

The study examines the Effect of Fiscal Policy on Selected Countries in West Africa. A Case Study of Nigeria and Ghana between 2000 and 2023. Four objectives of the study were adopted, namely: to examine the impact of fiscal policy on economic growth in selected West African countries; to analyze the relationship between government spending and revenue generation in these countries; to evaluate the effectiveness of fiscal policy tools such as taxation and public expenditure in managing the economies of the selected West African countries; and to identify the challenges faced in implementing fiscal policies in these countries. To select the needed samples for this study, the researcher used a total number of one hundred (100) workers from Ministry of Finance in Nigeria and Ghana. The study concluded that that fiscal policy plays a significant role in the economic growth of Ghana and Nigeria. The fiscal policy tools, such as government spending and taxation, have been found to be effective in stimulating economic activities in these countries. The study recommends that both Ghana and Nigeria should continue to invest in sectors that have the potential to drive economic growth.
